The Gift of Plants:
In our quest to hold herbalism up to the scientific eye, trying to mold it into a clinical science, we have lost touch with the very essence of herbal healing. It is not the clinically tested, standardized medicinal constituents of the plants we need for vitality and balance, but their more obscure, subtle properties. They have an innate ability to offer us the soothing relaxation, gladdening, quieting, emotional defrosting and grounding our over stimulated minds and tired spirits are so much in need of right now.

The Gift of Plants:
Healing for the Body, Mind and Spirit by Suki Roth
We live in stressful times, far from the comfort and peace one experiences when immersed in an intimate relationship with nature. What is it exactly that is causing our modern ills? The question here is a bit like the saying "what came first the chicken or the egg"? Is it physiological disorders or disorders of our spirit and emotions? Luckily we do not have to ponder this question. In their molecular cell structures, medicinal plants hold all the keys necessary to unlock our physical, emotional and spiritual vitality.
Through many hours of plant meditation, individually and in groups, I have been introduced to the subtler benefits the plants offer. Let me share some of my most profound plant meditation and clinical experiences with you. This in itself is a difficult task as picking out a few plants to highlight is like picking your favorite child. You love them all and they all offer so much individually.
Meadowsweet (Filipendula ulmaria)
Collect Meadowsweet while it is in flower. Use its beautiful leaves and sweet almond scented flowers for your tea or to tincture. Your first experience with either the tea or tincture will be one of deep release and relaxation. Meadowsweet has a warming, relaxing and soothing effect on the digestive tract. It contains large amounts of salicin, one of the main ingredients in aspirin, without the harmful effects to the stomach lining. It is specific for gastric pain, abdominal cramps, colic, and irritable bowel. Its pain relieving qualities are indicated for tension headache, muscular pain and arthritic complaints.
Meadowsweet, a great facilitator for achieving a deep meditative state, also has the ability to quiet the mind and guide the body into a restful sleep. Considered the emotional "chill-pill" it defuses congested thoughts while putting one at ease. It eliminates emotional pain that stems from living in a fast paced over stimulating world. Meadowsweet is able to rebalance electrical body charges making it an ally for opening up energy centers in the body. With daily use for a month or so it expands the body's energy field creating a greater sense of self and a boost to self-expression. A favorite herb of the Druids who believed it made the heart "merrier". A must for mild depression. Safe for children, elders and the overly sensitive.
Dose: Make a tea using 1-2 teaspoons of the dried herb to one cup boiled water steep for 15 minutes. Drink three times a day. Tincture 2 or 3 mls (60-80) drops three times a day.
Betony (Wood Betony) (Betonica officinalis)
Collect the aerial parts (leaf, stem and budding flowers) of Wood Betony just before the flowers bloom. Prepare yourself for a little taste of heaven with a cup of tea or tincture.
Wood Betony is one of my favorite herbs for insomnia. It quiets our restless minds and caps our frayed nerves. Its medicinal actions are anti-spasmodic, nervine, and anodyne (pain relieving). Wood Betony is specifically indicated for tension headaches caused by stress, fibromyalgia pain, and sore, over worked muscles.
A tonic for the nervous system, it reduces fatigue and tension the symptoms of nervous exhaustion, by inducing a restful sleep.
Wood Betony with its antispasmodic action relaxes our bowels, musculature and our stifled sense of self- expression. Creating the sensation of being nurtured and held it fosters a feeling of safety and protection. This opens up our emotional body and allows us to express our creativity and stimulates self-expression. Wood Betony has a stimulating opening effect on the solar plexus, considered the center of "gut-level" instincts, groundedness and self-confidence. A true anti-anxiety it erases contracted life experiences. Wood Betony considered a brain tonic, will increase arterial blood flow and cerebral circulation. Lose that frenzied burn out feeling with a cup of Wood Betony today.
Dose: 2 teaspoons of dried herb to one cup boiled water, steep 20 minutes drink three to four times a day. Tincture 20-60 drops three to four times a day.
You now have two new calming friends to take along on life's journey. Do not forget the old stand bys, Lavender, Chamomile and Lemon Balm. Cheers, to your health and well being.

This Season's Street Style Essentials
Sucks to be old NYC's latest age-defying beauty craze is inspired by the fang-baring undead. By Beth Landman
Lauren Zeifman's swish waiting room looks like that of many Park Avenue medical offices, but hers is filled with patients who are about to fork over as much as $2,500 for a vial of their own blood, one they hope contains the key to eternal youth and flawless skin. This new tribe of beauty addicts is as eager to receive a so-called vampire injection as Twihards are for their next Bella and Edward fix. Vampire injections or Dracula therapy & is the latest crazemi among Manhattan's well-heeled Botox-and-fillers set. In an appointment of no more than 30 minutes, the patient's blood is drawn and then spun in a centrifuge to separate out its plasma, the watery part that contains platelets & proteins and growth factor said to promote tissue regeneration and collagen renewal. That fluid, called platelet-rich plasma, or PRP, is then injected back into the patient's wrinkles. Recipients claim it softens lines and restores a fresh, dewy glow that can last a year or more.
In the world of cosmetic enhancement, PRP injections are considered the next big thing. Adherents say that, unlike toxins such as Botox or fillers like Restylane or Juveacutederm, their own blood is a natural way to get rid of fine lines, even if the concept is totally creepy. Zeifman, the founder of Park Avenue Skin Solutions, boasts long blond waves and skin so devoid of visible pores or creases she could be one of the undead. "Fillers may look good under the eyes for a short time, but the skin is so thin, they usually produce ridges [that] don't look natural," she explains. Vampire injections, by contrast, are "thinner than water, so it's the only thing at this point that improves the undereye area without any risk of bumps."
In 2002 scientists discovered the value of the treatment as a wound healer. Now posh New Yorkers are clamoring to have it injected in their faces. According to Jim Weeks, president of UBS Aesthetics, which sells Selphyl, a patented technology that streamlines the process, June sales were double those of previous months and the number of doctors giving injections has grown by 50 percent since the start of the year. While Zeifman says some of her patients have found the concept too bizarre and have opted to stick with synthetic fillers, most like the fact that the product is, well, organic. "When I thought about [using my own blood], I got a little queasy, but that wasn't enough of a deterrent not to do it," says David Munk, 46, a pale redheaded actor who lives in Jersey City. "[Now] I get roles playing guys in their thirties. Lauren is my secret weapon."
Marie Hallas-Imperato, 61, a former model from Queens, was nervous at first. "When I saw the needle coming, I thought, 'Get ready, this is going to be painful,'" she recalls. "But I must say, it wasn't. I looked tired all the time. People now think I am in my forties and I don't dare tell them the truth." Janine Corletta, 47, who works in the fashion industry, was dating a 32-year-old who invited her to a black-tie work event. "I'm surrounded by all these models at work. In the last few months they've been talking about these shots. Having to meet this guy's bosses pulled the trigger." Corletta made an appointment with boyish-looking Dr. David Colbert, the Flatiron-based dermatologist Angelina Jolie has turned to for various beauty therapies. "I feel like it lopped 10 years off, but I don't look overamplified or jacked up."
Soho resident Nicholas (he prefers not to use his last name), 40, got his PRP injections from Smoothmed's Dr. Jack Berdy to close his next deal. "I am in sales and have to appear alert, but I was getting circles under my eyes," he recalls. "I had injections in my forehead, eyes, cheeks and mouth. Now my friends call me Benjamin Button."
Make that Count Dracula.

Vampirism played key role in murder trial
By Sam Pazzano ,Toronto Sun
First posted: Friday, September 09, 2011 05:56 PM EDT | Updated: Friday, September 09, 2011 05:59 PM EDT
Vampirism played a bizarre role in the strange relationship between Tim Ferriman and his girlfriend who secretly recorded a plot by Ferriman, Kevin Madden and another youth to murder the Madden family at their Toronto home in November 2003. The girlfriend took their words seriously and her audiotape anchored a strong prosecution case in a trial that concluded in with Madden being convicted of first-degree murder in September 2006. Ferriman insisted he was merely joking with her in the faint hope of fanning their dying romance.
The twisted allure of vampirism had worked earlier for Ferriman. Ferriman and the girl — who cannot be identified since she was 14 at the time — met in October or November 2003 at a mutual friend’s home where he boasted to her that he was a vampire, robbing and killing people and sucking their blood. During that evening, he accidently broke a plate. The girl cut her hand while cleaning up. Afterwards, Ferriman asked if he could drink her blood. Within a week, Ferriman and the girl became an item. Within four or five days, her feelings for Ferriman changed. She testified she “was scared of Ferriman and that his interest in vampires ‘weirded’ her out.”
By Friday Nov. 21, only four days before Johnathan’s murder, she tried to spike her relationship with Ferriman. She acquiesced into continuing with him but she aimed to slowly freeze him out. During the first of two trials, she denied she was fascinated by vampires. But those denials caught up with her while the jury deliberated in February 2005. A newspaper published her website which clearly contradicted her testimony and Justice David Watt declared a mistrial. She used “bite for blood” as her e-mail address and for a period of time, maintained a blog under the same monicker. In 2004, after the murder, she posted a profile on the website “Vampire Freaks,” displaying semi-nude photos of herself and listed her likes as “blood, pain” and “cemeteries.” She maintained that she had posted on the site to speak to others interested in vampirism so she could better understand Ferriman.

Female "Vampire" Busted In Bloody Biting Attack
Police: Floridian, 22, chomped male victim, 69, on face, arm
SEPTEMBER 8--A Florida woman who claimed to be a “vampire” last night attacked an elderly man, biting him on the face and arm and tearing away chunks of his skin, according to police.
Josephine Smith, 22, was arrested today and charged with felony aggravated battery on an elderly person. Smith, seen in the mug shot at right, was booked into the Pinellas County Jail, where she is being held in lieu of $50,000 bail.
“I’m a vampire, I am going to eat you,” Smith announced before allegedly attacking Milton Ellis, according to an arrest affidavit.
Ellis, 69, received stitches to close up wounds suffered during the assault, which occurred in front of a vacant Hooters in St. Petersburg. Cops says Ellis, who uses a motorized wheelchair, was asleep when Smith pounced on him, commenced biting, and announced that she was a vampire.
The bleeding Ellis escaped his attacker’s clutches and called 911 from a nearby gas station.
When cops arrived, they located Smith--covered in blood and half naked--near the Hooters, according to a police spokesman. During questioning, she was unable to tell officers what had transpired outside the shuttered restaurant. Nor could she explain what had happened to her pants or why her panties were at her ankles. According to her Facebook profile, Smith has recently studied “dental assisting” at the Fortis Institute in Pensacola, where she resides.
Ellis, who police described as a transient, has been arrested at least 12 times over the past four years for crimes like trespassing, panhandling, battery, and disorderly intoxication. He is pictured here in a mug shot taken following an a bust four months ago. (1 page)

I think I have done what I can but it is maybe time to take a break from "people" or at least until I find a little peace of mind. Luckily I have a good bunch of Admins I hope can keep things going and not let what I did do die in vein...
I am about done trying to make friends when all most people seem do is lie about you, take advantage of you, and leave you if you not fucking perfect (having flaws that are not my fault)! To hell with them no matter how much you need them...
That is one reason why I only have online friends...

Want to learn more about Egyptian vampires? Read on to find out how the modern-day concept of vampires is actually inspired by an ancient Egyptian vampire like creature...
Most of us are aware of the concept of vampires as introduced to us through the silver screen. The typical vampire is characterized as a blood sucking night creature with sharp fangs. However this is not a new age concept in reality because vampires have their ancient origins in Egyptian mythology. The Egyptians were known to be polytheists and one of the gods, rather goddesses that they used to worship had a character quite similar to the modern-day vampire. Sekhmet was the name of the goddess that was known to drink blood. Historical records have shown that Sekhmet was considered to be a warrior goddess in Upper Egypt. The Egyptians would depict her as a lioness that had a reputation of being Egypt\’s most fearless hunter.
The Egyptians also believed that the desert had come into being because of her breath. She was considered to be a protector during times of war by the pharaohs and was also regarded as being the deliverer of guidance.
Egyptian Vampire Cult
With the passage of time a group of Egyptians actually developed a cult which consisted of devotees to the blood drinking Sekhmet. The cult started to gain prominence and during the 12th dynasty the pharaoh actually shifted the capital of Egypt to a location known to be the center for this cult. This was the city of Ijtawy. It is well known that in ancient Egypt the governing powers, Royal bloodlines and religion were all strongly linked together. The same goddess was also known to be a soldier deity. She can actually be seen wearing a solar disk in many of her depictions. Consequently she was associated with attributes like justice and had the responsibility to keep order. Almost all her visual depictions show her dressed in the color red which symbolizes her connection with blood. The eye of Horus, Bast and Hathor were also other prominent deities that were associated with the blood drinking goddess.
Various other powers were attributed to this goddess. These included the ability to bring disease as well as its cure. In fact mention of Sekhmet can also be found in historical records made by ancient physicians. Priests of the time also associated the goddess with doctors. After every battle that cult of devotees to this deity would celebrate an elaborate Festival to appease their goddess. Annual festivals were conducted at the beginning of each year where participants would intoxicate themselves along with which dancing and music were a common part of these festivals. It was believed that through these actions the Egyptians could appease the goddess because of which their opponents would face destruction.
Modern-Day Vampires
It is based on the character of the Goddess Sekhmet that the modern-day concept of vampires has evolved. Of course the way vampires are depicted in movies has been altered to appeal to the modern masses but in its essence the phenomenon of a blood sucking night creature takes inspiration from this ancient Egyptian vampire like creature.

VJC Revisited – Lady M

In May of this year, RVN ran two stories on the VJC – Vampi(y)re Judicial Council. The first story, The Vampi(y)re Judicial Council Officially Introduced, appeared on May 11, 2011. The second story, More Information About the Vampi(y)re Judicial Council appeared on May 12, 2011.
Since that time, there has been virtually no follow-up information regarding the progress of this Council. I am sure that amongst our readership there are some that are just a little curious as to what has been happening, as the subject raised quite a number of debates throughout the OVC.
For those of you not familiar with this Council, the definition of the VJC is as follows: This taken directly from the article posted at the RVN on May 11, 2011. For those interested in taking a look at their website, the link is as follows: http://vjcassembly.forumotions.net/
“Vampi(y)re Judicial Council is an ad hoc Mediation Council representing the views and interests of consenting member Groups in collaboration with each other and within the Greater Vampi(y)re Community; acting as the expression of the member Groups desire to safeguard and protect the Greater Vampi(y)re Community from dangers and radical elements perceived to be presented by individuals and Groups both within and without the Greater Vampi(y)re Community, which could result in harm to the integrity and public image of the Greater Vampi(y)re Community and its members”
One of the founders and the main contributor of the VJC Charter is Octarine Valur of the House Valur Vampire Coven in South Africa. The following questions were put forth to the Council in an attempt to seek the current status of the VJC.
Since you are one of the founders of the Council, can you tell the readers the status of the VJC to date?
Currently, the VJC is in a state of inactivity, as no member has approached the VJC on any issue.
One of the most important things that the council intended to do was to warn the community about dangerous people in the OVC. How has this been accomplished and where are these incidents posted?
Incidents of interest would be posted on the VJC forum. Thus far no member Group has approached the VJC with any such incidents, and as per the Constitution of the VJC, the body will not take action of its own accord. It remains the prerogative of members and member Groups to prompt an action.
Why has the official website for the VJC been virtually void of any new information since May 19th of this year?
Since the formation of the VJC in May 2011, no member group has approached the VJC with any incidents which they sought action on. The VJC does not hold meetings nor discussions outside of incidents brought to its attention, so unless a complaint or issue is brought to the VJC, one should not expect an action from the VJC. Also, for that reason, the official website of the VJC will also reflect that inactivity.
Have any current OVC groups currently listed as ongoing members of the VJC resigned and, if so, why?
Only one of the original Groups which participated in the formation of the VJC resigned, and that was shortly before May 19. Since that time, our membership has expanded to include the following Groups internationally:
House Valur Vampyre Coven – Port Elizabeth, Eastern Cape, South Africa. Order of the Raven – Florida, USA. Halo of Septem Civis – Virginia, USA. House Noctem Aeternus – Virginia, USA. Vampire Nation Concord (VNC) - USA. House Nereo – Centurion, Gauteng, South Africa.
House Darkskye – Auburn, Alabama, USA.
None of these Groups or community bodies has indicated a desire to be removed from membership
.
Lastly, is it your opinion, in hindsight, that the VJC may have been an idea that was too controversial for this particular time in the OVC?
In my opinion, the concept of the VJC was – and remains controversial – but no, not “too” controversial. I believe that the VJC remains a good idea which can benefit the VC in the long run – and those Groups which continue to list their support of it bear me out on this.
I would like to thank Octarine Valur for taking the time to answer the questions regarding the status of the VJC.
As an interested observer, I had the opportunity to sit down and read the transcripts of the debates when they were publically posted. One thing that keeps coming to this writers mind is, of the many members and Houses in the VC/OVC that came out in favour of this Council, it is interesting to note there are only 7 groups that are listed as current members.

Ok, this is an internal conflict of mine--not pertaining to only vampires but to all people. I have been thinking a lot on the issue of God/Gods the soul and survival of the self at odds, to the point it is starting to feel like a curse. Interesting, we are reading Gilgamesh in English.
The story is about a man obsessed with immortality, where the Gods are more angry and volatile, who would wipe out humans simply for making too much noise...and in the end he fails because he is heartbroken when his friend/ semi lover Enkidu dies. This is kind of what's on my mind, not just immortality but death and what makes a person really human or divine. People say you should have struggles in life, but struggles can become a hindrance too if you are not sure what you are aiming for. I tried to make a deal with the vampire who has somehow infiltrated my life for so long, and he simply laughed it off...more like "don't mess with me, I know I'm evil." Certain parasitic vampires end up this way because when they cross over, perhaps they lack sympathy but they certainly have a lot of power and a way to weave in across humans, to corrupt links and establish their own immortality.
You see, I'm at a crossroads...I've realized that emotional feeding is counterproductive, and makes me needy or come across that way...and energy feeding can cause negativity if not done right...but essentially many people are vampiric, especially some of the more advanced people with schizophrenia. I met someone on a forum for alternative views on mental illness, and we realized that a huge part of our so called "illness" was a few things: the ability to stop time, read each other's minds, psychically tap into each other, and yet...he turned around after my vampiric self showed, and changed..or began to doubt that what he said was real himself. He also has a very vampiric side, but he doesn't realize it.
It's complex, because not saying that vampirism is a mental illness, but when society and people are constantly attacking you it starts to take a toll on your mentality and spirit...so some people "like us" with schizophrenia develop ESP abilities to combat it as well as already had some that we were born with. My problem is my vampirism is so intense, that if I were to go off of the chemicals which shut down my Extreme states then I would go into over-absborant, over projective mode. We have it easy and hard, I can absorb material easily if it's interesting, but I get bored and annoyed when I know stuff intuitively before said, not quite the same as understanding the material...just knowing...what it is.
So I feel like there is forcefield telling me that I am not allowed to be a vampire, just like in the story of Gilgamesh where he is told by the Gods--that no human even 2/3 God is allowed to become immortal. It's an issue of morality, for me, and mortality too. But I'm craving that release right now..almost feeling like it's wrong to suffer the emptiness like this. I dont feel comfortable submitting in a church to God-heads and structures, but the idea of other Gods makes me somewhat uncomfortable, but less so than Christian thought. I believe Christians probably engaged in deeply ascetic rituals, much like vampire magic before The Romans cleaned it up and made it pretty.
All I want right now is some kind of secret power--a force that I am rejecting of my own accord. I have messed with these powers before, out of anger occasionally and terrible mind fucks etc. happened. I tried to protect myself from an attack and ended up making it worse, aka angering the Gods. what bothers me is that if there ARE Gods then why are so many of us led to believe there are not, wandering aimlessly amongst a field of nails...not sure where to head but somehow finding their ways...so in essence, is it wrong and how can I possibly convince myself to learn to draw energy from people? It feels weird, even awkward..and I stand out enough as it is. I can do it, but on meds I feel power shifted. I guess acceptance and self acceptance is the first step toward gaining more control over this.
I'm really feeling stifled, and I don't know if this is necessary for me...my uncle died recently and this was when I first started feeling connected to the Gods--because he told me I should never kill myself, and made me promise this. He is out there watching over his children and us. I don't know if I fooled myself or what? He said a few things" dont worry about me, death is not like you think--there is more, it's like waking up....I think... But I can't take antidepressants, bad things happen when I do. It happened to my mom too, something with these chemicals make us ill...we're too sensitive to the "other" perspectives which the mind can create. Recently I smoked pot too much pot, and the next day I started thinking I could hear what everyone thought to themselves, I was afraid if people knew they would be freaked out...but I couldnt help it much...echoes and stuff. Superpowers...
I can't help wanting me to survive, and feeling so frustrated with piece by piece seeming to vanish...I started wondering about the ethics of a predator survival mentality, and if it's wrong because then we dont have diversity and genuine people dont get a chance, like good people--people who deserve to live, and live on. I have trouble distinguishing one person's worth over another's, I see everyone as equally deserving and full of potential...but...I've been trying to understand how to be selfish...it just makes me sick, how many people step over each other and me, especially me--for some reason, I feel like people are just stepping over me...because I am not into the survivalist stuff anymore. I think of God as someone important, like a guide or a teacher--but always there, and yet--extremely understanding, forgiving, but apt to frustration...who is God? I wish I knew God. Maybe God and I could figure out an answer to these unresolved questions and my theories...
My friend thinks psychiatry is a witch hunt...you say you can see--they say you're crazy for seeing anything more than the power games people play, when they lower you to their level just to rise above and snatch your dreams away. So in a sense, would I be right to enact revenge on others--or the system....is negativity ok sometimes? What if I'm not even that negative of a person to do damage anyways, if I kept my idea of negative balanced with the positive--in magic for instance, if I did a spell to make them see the light...see their faults...I want to change things, to shift the power--this is why I'm crazy.
I have incredible powers of influence...but I'm having trouble judging the truth from the fake or made up...and sometimes I get into limbo...after I smoked pot reality became a little more real when I came down. When I smoke pot my heart rate slows and my mind does something weird--its not just blacking out every 2 seconds, but I mean I go in between reality, time stops and 10 minutes seems to last a bit longer, I will see things over and over again...the same moment on repeat...but it's not that interesting, and I'm not into drugs to achieve what you can through love, meditation, and hypnosis and astral projection.

Anyone else does some astral combat training around here? If not and if interested I can teach you how.

Sanguinarius: Article: Flipside of the Coin, A Donor's Guide to Sang Donating
Flipside of the Coin, A Donor's Guide to Sang Donating:
or, "Distilled Wisdom from a Decade of Donating"
By Shortgoth
A more-or-less practical guide to bloodletting and bloodfeeding from the point of view of a donor.
Contents are as follows:
Section 1: Foreword and Introduction
Section 2: Prep Work (cleaning, Sterilisation of the Tools, Etc.)
Section 3: Feeding and the Tools of the Trade
Section 4: Aftercare and Aftermath
Section 5: The Important Dos and Don'ts
Section 6: Taking Care of Your Vampire ;)
Section 1: Foreword and Introduction
I'm not very good at writing "articles" per se. I have a certain train-of-thought style of writing, and my most well-written "articles" over the years have come as responses to forum posts and e-mails on mailing lists. As a result, this is not going to be as "professional" as many other guides, and certainly not on par with actual books. However, if you can bear with my less-than-perfect arrangement of thoughts, this little compilation of facts, opinions, and personal experiences might be of use.
Firstly: I am not a vampire, nor do I play one on television. I'm a donor, a masochist, and these articles are very much written with that in mind -- this is really for donors, or for those who are thinking about becoming donors, or for blood-feeding vamps (Sanguinarians).
Secondly: This text has absolutely no theories on the origin of vampirism, why certain people require blood (or energy), and absolutely nothing to do with psi-vamps. Nor does it cover awakenings, dealing with being vampiric, how to meet donors, or anything of the sort. For that sort of information, there are a wealth of books and articles that go into such things comprehensively.
Bearing both of those points in mind, what you will find here are various thoughts born of years of experience, some amount of research, and hopefully a deal of common sense. :) By the way, some parts of this have appeared before online as I'm recycling some old stuff I've written, so you might recognise various parts of the articles.
Personally I don't consider myself a very good person to give advice but I admire the work of people such as Sanguinarius, Sphynxcat, Lady CG, and numerous others in spreading information and advice to the community as a whole and so do what little I can to support it, including typing this.
What you will find here: information about the three fundamental parts of feeding itself from the point of view of someone who's actually going to be losing blood, and then a few points of special consideration, as well as some dos and don'ts and a few extra bits not often found in articles written by vamps.
Hope you enjoy reading this and that you find at least one useful thing in here.
Danny (aka shortgoth)
Section 2: Prep work
There are two very well known sayings:
"If you fail to prepare, you are preparing to fail" and of course "The Seven P's -- Prior Preperation and Planning Prevent Piss-Poor Performance". These clichés apply very well to blood feeding. There are quite a few bits of prep work to be done before bleeding, and here's a short guide to the important parts.
Firstly, both of you must be comfortable and relaxed with what's about to happen.
Nervousness on the donor's part can result in jumpiness/sudden reaction to the blade, resulting in a deeper cut than you might be desiring.
Feeding will take minutes at the very least, so you don't want to be in an uncomfortable position -- I generally recommend sofas or beds since they allow the donor to lie down.
Coldness will result in less blood flowing to the extremities, again making it harder to get a good feed. A special note here on gender differences -- believe it or not, there are differences in the circulatory systems between the two. Women, in general, will tend to have warmer bellies and colder feet. Men, in general, tend to have colder hands. This is noticeable in cool conditions, when the body expels more energy keeping the core warm and less on the extremities -- in a nice warm room it's not as noticeable, and if the donor takes a nice, hot relaxing bath this will have an excellent side-effect of not just relaxing them but also getting them warm (and making their skin a bit more supple).
A first-aid kit should be on hand -- accidents happen, overeagerness happens, "biting off more than you can chew" isn't just a tired old cliché. ;) If things go wrong, you will, at the very least, need a medium-size wound dressing, a few wipes, and something you don't mind getting soaked in blood to press over the wound to stop the bleeding (this will be covered in more detail later).
Then there are the 3 aspects of hygiene and infection prevention that come into prep:
The vamp's mouth is, in all honesty, the biggest chance of infection there is. If they're using hypodermics or butterfly IVs or similar it won't be an issue, but if they're feeding directly from the skin it can be a concern. Anti-bacterial mouthwashes are available and it's recommended they use them (follow the instructions on the label) a few minutes before feeding. the human mouth is a veritable breeding ground for bacteria and many nasty things can be passed on -- don't forget it's *your* body the vamp's going to be drinking from, it's your right to insist they do this.
Your skin -- obviously you're about to be bled so there's a potential for contamination there especially as the vamp's saliva whilst feeding can pick up anything on your skin and pass it to the wound, as well as the potential to pass nasty things onto your vamp. Obviously you'll be keeping yourself clean anyway but there's a lot to be said for some extra prep work on the area about to be bled -- alcohol-free antibacterial wipes are a long-standing favourite, but various "hand sanitiser" gels are available and are excellent simply because they create zero additional mess -- they evaporate right off the skin. Bear in mind the element of taste though, these things can leave quite a nasty taste on your skin for the vamp's initial contact.
And last but by no means least -- the tool itself. I have quite a few things to say about the various tools available but the part relevant to this section is the sterilisation process.
There are a number of ways to sterilise cutting implements. Some of them can be done easily at home, some can't.
Alcohol:
Often assumed to be good for sterilisation. In reality, it kills some bacteria. But it isn't particularly effective against virii and there are a fair number of hardy bacteria that alcohol doesn't kill. Plus to be effective, it has to be a minimum of 60% ABV (120 proof) to be of any use, with 75% ABV (150 proof) or more preferred. It also should be applied for a min of 15 seconds. Even so, after centuries of use, many virii and some bacteria are far more resistant than they used to be.
Gamma Radiation:
Can't be done at home, 'nuff said. Well, OK, it *could* be done at home, but the equipment's a wee bit pricey.
Hydrogen Peroxide:
Minimum 6% concentration, soak the blade in it for 6 hours. Clean with sterile (boiled and allowed to cool) water.
Chlorine:
The same stuff you put in your swimming pool. Chlorine Dioxide works well when it comes to chemical sterilisation, again immersion for 6 hours is minimum. Again, clean with sterile water.
Heat applied to the blade:
Some people are concerned (especially if using a favourite knife or similar for their cutting) about wrecking the temper of the steel and possibly making their blade/scalpel/razor worthless for bloodletting -- I have 2 things to say about that: The tempering issue is more to do with long-term usability, edge holding, and resharpening properties than the actual edge sharpness itself. The other thing is that tempering is done at temps. above 300 degrees F/148 degrees C or thereabouts) for the most common of "stainless" steels (alloy 440C) and better quality non-stainless carbon steels are done at much higher temperatures.
So losing the temper isn't really that much of a concern. Heating the blade can be done with:
- direct flame, the classic
- boiled water immersion (212degF/100degC)
- steam in an autoclave/high pressure environment.
- Baby Bottle sterilisers, I'm told, can also work perfectly well for this.
This will kill off the vast majority of bacteria spores and virii. Just remember that the blade must be fully cooled before use (allow a good few hours) and bear in mind that it might *possibly* mess with the tempering of a knife's blade.
Antibacterial wipes:
These are often used to clean the wound itself, but you can of course use them to wipe a tool down. The reason they're used on skin is that you can't pour strong bleach, heat up/boil, or irradiate human tissue without negative effects, so as far as cleaning the wounds go, they're as good as you can get but aren't good enough to truly sterilise a blade/needle/lancet/anything else.
There are a couple other points that could drift into this area, but they'll be covered in a later section.
Section 3: Feeding and the Tools of the Trade
Finally, the fun part!
The basics are pretty simple really, there are a number of tools available to you but they generally fall into three categories: Lancets and other safe poking implements, razors, scalpels, and other bladed implements, and hypodermics/butterfly IVs.
Hypos:
Simply put, you shouldn't allow anyone to use them on you unless they're a trained doctor/nurse/phlebotomist. Truth be told, I've known nurses with 20+ years of experience who had difficulty hitting a vein first time -- you think an amateur will be able to take blood with a vein perfectly well every time? As long as you know what you're doing it's pretty safe, but I'd strongly recommend erring on the side of caution with this one.
However, should you and your vamp be comfortable taking this route, it does allow for the greatest amount of control. You can draw very specific amounts, and can even use the data to provide a better-than-average-accurate "feeding schedule". Some vamps want/need more blood in a sitting than others, some want/need to feed more often than others. Hypos allow to you accurately track exactly how much the vamp is taking every time, whereas other bloodletting techniques only really allow for a "best guess" at how much the vamp is consuming.
The other upside to hypos is that there's no wastage. ;)
Lancets, etc:
Purely poking implements -- you will hardly feel a thing (good if you don't like pain), but you won't get much blood either. They're pretty much foolproof, especially the modern "auto" variety (uses the same technology as automatic injector "EpiPens" for allergy sufferers), I used one once and was very impressed at how simply they work -- literally just push against the skin. Downside being the vamp gets very, very little blood out of them so you'll end up getting poked multiple times. Very, very low chance of scarring.
This is often the method of choice for the more covert vamps. Lancets are readily available and no one ever asks questions due to their widespread use by diabetics.
Blades:
My preferred form of blood extraction, and many others' as well. There are some myths about the use of blades, such as "Surgical Scalpels are the best", "Regular knives aren't sharp enough", "You're more likely to get infected if you don't use scalpels", and so on, and this is my best attempt to dispel some of these myths:
"Surgically sharp" and "surgical steel" are both, in a word, bollocks. Do you know how they make scalpels? They're pressed out of a stainless steel alloy called 420J2 or 420H (pretty much the same alloy, variances in makeup I won't go into here), the blade is then polished on a buffer, inspected, packed, and irradiated. Like all mass-produced blades, they're much poorer quality than the salesmen would have you believe -- in reality they're very cheaply made out of the lowest quality grade steel with minimal attention to detail. The reason for their sharpness is due to the thin cross-sectional geometry and nothing else.
"Classic" disposable razor blades and industrial razor blades are made in exactly the same way. Same process, same steel, same amount of quality control. The only difference is the lack of sterilisation, which you can do yourself the old fashioned low-tech way (see the "prep work" section).
Knife blades (and straight razors) however, can be sharpened to exactly the same degree of sharpness if you know what you're doing, are made out of much better steel if you know what you're buying, are far more aesthetically pleasing and of course can be used for other purposes than blood letting.
As for "less scarring": The sharpness of the knife has virtually nothing to do with scarring. It's a fact that a less than adequately sharpened knife can have "micro-serrations", but those can not be seen without the aid of a microscope and the actual difference between a cut with a polished blade and an unpolished blade as far as "ragged edges" of the wound itself goes is so small you can't tell the difference.
Scarring is created by (or influenced by) other factors: length of the cut. Depth of the cut. Placement of the cut. And to a lesser extent, genetics and aftercare. With most people, a light scratch with any instrument whether it be a cat's claw, a surgical scalpel, or a good old pocket knife, will not result in scarring. A cut that goes down to the bone, whether it's made by a (big) cat's scratch, a surgical scalpel, a hunting knife, or a broadsword, will have a much higher chance of scarring. Some people are genetically predisposed to scar more easily than others. What heals perfectly for one person may leave a small scar for others. What leaves a small scar for one person may keloid another. And of course aftercare. Is the wound just left alone? Then if it's a deep one, the chances are it'll scar, how badly depends on length, depth, and genetics. If it's patched up, that'll reduce the chances of it scarring. If it's stitched up, that'll reduce the chances of it scarring even more. I've heard Vitamin E applied to the wound as part of the healing process also reduces the chances, but I've never tried it myself.
So let's talk personal numbers here. I've been cut so many times I couldn't count. Over a thousand times, without a doubt (this figure includes everything apart from paper cuts which I've never heard of scarring). Conversely, I have less than a hundred scars on my body, and these were caused by everything from "surgically sharp scalpels", various types of pocket and sheath knives (steel blades, ceramic blades, titanium/steel alloy blades) industrial razor blades, old fashioned disposable razor blades, a serrated kitchen knife, and a chainsaw blade (fortunately, the chainsaw wasn't running at the time ;) ). You know why they scarred? Length and depth of cut. Genetics (I scar pretty easily, to be honest). Aftercare (or lack thereof: I generally don't even use antibacterial wipes or patch the wound up. Just let it scab over and/or scar as it will).
Any cut made with any blade can scar in theory. Using a "surgically sharp scalpel" has *zero* impact on whether it scars or not.
Bloodletting is dangerous obviously, but the tools you use can increase or descrease the risk rather a lot. Your technique also will influence it.
So let's move on to "technique".
The basic rules are pretty simply:
Cut (or pierce if using lancets) somewhere over a muscle group. I tend to recommend the chest or shoulder blades, some prefer thighs, some arms, pretty much anywhere works so long as there's a muscle under it. The reason I suggest cutting over muscle groups is for better blood flow.
Avoid arteries at all costs -- believe me when I say you'll know if you hit an artery because, as the saying goes, "Arteries decorate walls". Fortunately most of them are buried pretty deep so if you cut lightly you won't have a problem with them.
You'll want to avoid veins too -- although they're not quite as bad as hitting arteries, they're still not something you want to be cutting into -- I've had a vein hit in the past, and so speaking from personal experience I'll tell you it's not something you want to happen.
Both of these can be avoided by -- as rule #1 states -- cutting over a large muscle group.
Groin and neck area -- again I'd say to avoid these, some might think it erotic/sensual to feed from here but seriously, bad idea. there's not a lot of flesh in between the skin and the arteries here and they're two very dangerous areas.
As a general rule of thumb, cut lightly at first -- you're looking for a shaving nick/cat scratch kind of depth to begin with. Personally I prefer deeper cuts (as do many vamps) but it's not something you should jump straight into. The sharper the implement, the easiest it is to control the cut. Swift but light strokes will do the trick.
If the vamp isn't getting enough blood, there are a few options (in no particular order):
Make another cut/puncture: the most obvious one and generally the most used one.
Cut deeper: the deeper the cut, the more blood you'll get -- pretty obvious. However, the deeper you go, the higher chance of scarring, the longer it'll take to heal. Also if you go deep enough, you will start to get into the veins/arteries/subcutaneous fat/bone areas (depending on where you're cutting and just how deep you're going) -- none of these are good for you.
Make X-shaped cuts -- they clot and close slower than a simple slice and as a result you can get more blood -- although bear in mind the simple rule of "fastest closed is smallest scar" -- the longer it takes for the wound to close, the higher the likelihood of scarring.
Re-cutting the wound -- personally I don't recommend this -- it is pretty much impossible to control the depth of the cut if you're re-cutting a wound that's only just clotted up. But it does work.
"Massaging" the area around the wound -- encourages blood flow, useful to squeeze a few extra drops out of a closing wound.
Tearing the wound open -- one of my personal favourites, but not recommended unless the donor is masochistic. You can use teeth or nails for this, literally a case of digging into the wound and ripping at it. This is rather painful and causes far more damage a clean cut, again increasing the risk of scarring -- bloody fun though. ;)
There are other options: some people try to open wounds with their teeth -- it's pretty damn painful though and t'be honest both lancets and blades are a damn sight easier. There's whipping, tattoo guns (awesomely fun), and a few others but I won't go into them as volumes have been written (primarily by those in the S&M/BDSM culture) and general I only advise two things:
Lancets for the squeamish/want to avoid pain/have a vamp that doesn't require much blood.
Blades (be they scalpels, razor blades, straight razors, or others) for the rest.
Experimentation can be fun of course -- but try to keep it within safe(ish) limits and make sure that both the donor and vamp know what they're getting into. :) In the BDSM scene there's a mantra of "Safe, Sane, Consensual" -- personally I tend to think that bloodplay (of which feeding is a part) clearly breaches the "safe" aspect of that but it's not a bad phrase to remember.
Section 4: Aftercare and Aftermath
Pretty much in 2 parts: basic aftercare and a short guide to those "oh shit" moments that can sometimes happen. Hopefully you'll never need to worry about that but it never hurts to have a litte information should anything go wrong.
Basic aftercare:
Antibacterial wipes (I like the alcohol-free ones; some prefer the alcohol base ones), and something to cover the wound are what you need as a basic. Once the wound has clotted and stopped bleeding (or you have stopped the bleeding if somehow the vamp was sated before the wound closed itself), give it a quick wipe and cover the wound.
Sometimes a band-aid will do the trick but for larger wounds you might want to consider Steri-strips/butterfly stitches and a proper wound dessing or, if you're like me and not too fussy about such things, a bit of surgical tape will do the trick to hold a wound closed (N.B. -- I have used masking tape in the past but I certainly wouldn't recommend it).
Again, remembering the adage of "soonest closed is smallest scar", if you want to avoid scarring you're better off using several light cuts than a single deep one, ensuring to clean, cover, and close, the cuts once the vamp's finished with them.
A brief(ish) note here about infection:
As stated in a previous section, I've had a great many cuts (and have a great many scars too) You know how many infected cuts I've had? None. I've bled so badly at times that I've a) Been unable to walk unaided, b) Ruined a sofa and three matresses plus uncounted sheets/clothing items c) Could see my ribcage once I'd stopped the bleeding and had a look.
Infection comes from contaminants in the wound. The reason the platelets flock to the wound is to seal it off from possible infections. The reason scabs are formed are twofold -- firstly they seal the wound from infection, secondly they cover the wound with a solid surface to allow the skin to repair itself. As long as you don't let contaminants into the wound, and allow the scab to form (without picking it off), you won't get infections. Simple as that really.
You're more likely to get an infection after surgery in a hospital than you are to get an infection from a blood letting session. What does that tell you about "surgical cleanliness"? Yes, I know that's a slightly disingenuous arguement due to the relative complexity of surgery as compared to blood letting. But OTOH, the most basic difference between cuts made in surgical procedures and ones made at home are? Length of cut. Depth of cut. Those two same basic things again. The aftercare is also an important point. Hospitals are well-known breeding grounds for all sorts of really nasty bacteria.
There are some other things handy to have post-feeding: something high in protein as a snack -- this could be some cheese, some nuts, or a protein drink, or any of a number of other foodstuffs -- the body requires protein to build tissue and you'll want some protein afterwards for the same reason that people recommend protein after a work-out. Vitamin C is also very handy for the donor, and Vitamin E can be used to help prevent/minimize scarring.
A sports drink to replenish glucose is also handy to have -- the cutting and feeding process will kick in your body's "fight or flight" response, which tends to include an adrenal dump, and will deplete your body's blood sugar levels. Sports drinks are excellent for replenishing these, although some donors might prefer chocolate. ;) Other sources abound of course, I know a lot of sports people and diabetics that swear by glucose tablets for example.
A quick tip on sports drinks -- Lucozade is a popular brand in the UK and I believe Gatoraid is popular in the States however you can make a cheaper (and just as effective) version yourself: simply get a 1 litre bottle and fill it with half Orange Juice, half Lemonade, and a pinch of everyday table salt -- it sounds strange I know but lots of people swear by it and it is pretty effective.
General non-wound aftercare:
Obviously this changes heavily depending on the donor and the sort of relationship the two of you have. Some donors might want to lie down and enjoy post-feed afterglow, some might even fall asleep (I know I'm terrible for this, whether it be with a vamp, a sadist, or when getting tattooed), if perhaps the feeding was part of an SM scene you may well continue, or if you have a sexual relationship with the donor then you might continue in that direction.
On the vamp's part, it's been my experience that most fall into one of two modes: contented and sated like a well-fed cat, or as hyperactive as a suger-filled 5 year old. Fortunately most have the former reaction. ;)
Exactly what happens post-feed is something you have to discuss beforehand, but one thing you should always check is that both parties feel the feed went well.
"Sub Drop"
This is a term I shamelessly stole from the BDSM community, but it's something to consider. No matter how gentle the vamp may be, or how willing the donor is, the fact is that skin is being broken and blood is being lost and the body *will* treat this as a dangerous situation.
Specifically, the act of feeding will trigger the release of endorphins and kick the Adrenal glands into action. The primary effects of endorphins is as a natural pain killer, an anti-stress hormone, and they will enduce a slight sense of euphoria -- the "warm fuzzy glow" a donor will get during/afer feeding is a classic sympton of endorphin activation. The adrenal glands release a number of different hormones that I won't go into but the saliant point is that it's part of the body's "fight or flight" reaction to pain and/or injury.
As much fun as the warm fuzzies are, the fact is that the body cannot sustain high output levels and endorphins mess with the body's serotonin levels. Seratonin can affect things such as appetite, sleep, memory, learning, temperature regulation, mood, sexual behavior, cardiovascular function, muscle contraction, endocrine regulation, and, of course, depression. In addition to this, the adrenal dump leaves the body dehydrated and starved of things such as potassium and sodium.
The combination of these effects is what creates "sub drop" -- reduced or inhibited serotonin levels, lowered blood sugar, potassium and sodium levels, lowered body fluids. This causes (depending on the depletion levels) lethargy, depression, muscle weakness and/or cramps, nausea, headaches, dizziness, irregular body temperature, lack of mental focus, irritability, and can lead to unconsiousness and even more severe problems.
To counter-balance this is tricky -- there's no real way of completely stopping it from happening. However, as I stated above rehydrating and having a snack are two of the best ways to replenish what is lost during feeding -- bananas and strawberries are excellent sources of potassium BTW -- and of course there's nature's best cure: sleep.
The main thing to remember about "sub drop" is that it can occur hours after a session or as much as 11 days later. It's unlikely to be as big a deal with Sang donors as it is with BDSM subs/bottoms, but it is something to watch out for and be aware of.
If it all goes wrong:
Note -- this section will not replace a proper first aid course, and first aid courses are both widely available in most country and look good on your resume as well as being useful in many situations. Depending on what country you're in, your employer may well have a legal obligation to have a certain number of qualified first aiders per number of employees, in which case you might even be able to get your employer to pay for your training course. :)
Rule number 1:
Don't panic! Panicking is bad for both parties here: For the donor, it might make them hyperventilate, it will increase the heart rate (and thereby make them lose even more blood even more quickly), and may push them into shock even if they weren't going into shock to begin with. For the vampire, panicking means you'll not be able to provide the best of care and will have a harder time dealing with the emergency services if required.
With the "not panicking" bit under control, it's time to do some emergency aid. Your absolute top priority is to slow/stop the bleeding.
First, apply direct pressure to the wound -- do NOT use a tourniquet -- just get a wound dressing/similar (a clean cloth could work if for some reason you forgot your first aid kit) and apply as much pressure to the wound as you can.
Tourniquets used to be taught as part of First Aid but are not any more -- essentially they were found to be very effective in saving the lives of amputation victims back in the Napoleonic Wars and stayed as part of standard practice ever since. However, the reason they work so well is that they completely cut off the blood supply. On the one hand it's certain to stop the bleeding but on the other hand, the fact that the blood on the non-heart side of the tourniquet isn't being circulated means that toxins will build up in it, causing a potentially FATAL case of toxic shock when the tourniquet is removed and the (now toxic) blood returns to the rest of the body. More modern first aid courses never recommend the use of tourniquets for this reason -- you will prevent the bleeding, but what use is that if they die from toxic blood once it's removed? Healthcare professionals still use tourniquets because they can pump the victim full of antibiotics etc before releasing the tourniquet to prevent/minimize toxic shock -- but YOU don't have these drugs available.
Secondly, elevate the wound above the heart. I'm not going to explain in words why you do this; instead I'm going to give you a physical demonstration. What you need to do is raise one hand high up in the air (as high as you comfortably can), and let the other hand hang directly down. You only need to hold this pose for 1 minute (count one-thousand-1-one-thousand-2, all the way up to 60 in your head). I could go into paragraphs of descriptions about the circulatory system but this physical demonstration is vastly superior to any amount of theory. Once you've reached the 1 minute mark, put both hands out in front and look at them .You'll notice that the one that was up in the air is paler than usual, and the one hanging down is flushed and full of blood. That's the best way to demonstrate the importance of raising the wound above the heart that there is. ;)
Thirdly, if the donor isn't already lying down, get them to lie down, preferably with their feet elevated -- this is the classic "shock position" and will help them immensely.
Fourthly, if it is a serious wound, call the Emergency Services.
Yes, it's embarrassing. Yes, you quite rightly want to avoid any sort of official contact regarding your bloodletting. However, this is about getting your donor patched up and keeping them as healthy as possible after something goes wrong. Swallow your embarrassment and make that phone call.
There are 3 things that they will ask you:
1) What is the injury 2) How did the injury occur 3) Does the donor have any medical conditions/are they on medication/drugs/etc.
These are the three questions any First Responder/Paramedic/EM Tech/whatever they're called will need to have answered before they can care for the donor. It is VITAL that they have as much information as possible.
Note that for number 2, you can bend the truth a little -- perhaps you don't want to be describing your vampiric tendancies for obvious reasons, but you could say that you were engaging in S&M and an accident occured -- the Emergency Services are not going to launch a Witch Hunt here; they get thousands of stranger call-outs, and although you might get a lecture on the dangers of bloodletting, they aren't likely to actually give a shit other than for the donor. Another good ruse, if you live somewhere that has a large student population, is that the donor is an art student and had an accident with a scalpel whilst scuplting. Or perhaps the donor was doing some sort of DIY project? Use your imagination, obviously depending on the exact situation (and the location of the injury) some things are more believable than others.
What it is important that you NOT do -- say that the donor tripped and fell onto a blade you happened to be carrying, it's an obvious lie and they might well believe that you're tying to cover up a physical assault -- this is a BAD thing.
At the end of the day, some version of the truth is always going to be more believable than an outright lie, regardless of how convincing you think said lie is.
It is also important that you give as accurate and complete an answer to questions 1 and 3 as you possibly can -- if your donor has been drinking alcohol, has taken anything at all (even someone as simple as an Aspirin), has any medical conditions (including allergies and such common things as Asthma, etc.), they are going to need to know this.
If the donor has any medical conditions, is on any prescription medication, then the Vamp has a right to know about it anyway, and the Emergency Services, should the worst occur, absoluty MUST know because it will affect the treatment they can safely give. Even knowledge of illegal drugs (did they have a joint that morning? do a line of something?) should be given -- obviously don't tell them you've taken if you have, but let them know that the donor took them. Personally I don't take recreationals anymore and would certainly not recommend them to anyone, but I know some people are into them -- and again if the Emergency Services don't know the donor has partaken, it can cause complications should they need to treat them.
A certain amount of honesty is required should the shit hit the fan -- worry about possible legal repurcussions (either for the vamp or the donor) later. The Emergency Services aren't there to start legal investigations or hound you for anything you might be getting up to in the privacy of your own home; they're there to help should help be required and believe me when I say that they see far stranger things on a daily basis than your feeding session. ;)
Section 5: Dos and Don'ts
It's a hard section to write, and basically covers things that could/should already be in other sections, or are and I just think it's important enough to make the point again.
DO:
DO get to know the vamp reasonably well before agreeing to donate. It's a rule I've broken before, but it's not one I'd recommend ignoring.
This doesn't necessarily mean knowing their whole life story, but does include: How much the vamp expects to drink, how often they expect to drink, their preferred methodology for bloodletting. Knowing that they're clean of communicable diseases. Ensuring (as well as possible) that they're reasonably sane and aren't an axe-wielding lunatic (although they can be fun, too ;) ).
DO take appropriate precautions when it comes to the first meeting if you've made first contact with each other over the internet.
This includes meeting in a neutral, preferably public, place; either bringing one or more friends along or arranging a "safety call" (a call to a friend that must be made by the pre-arranged time or they'll alert the authorities); getting a photograph (and giving this to your "safety call" friend if applicable), and so on -- personally I tend to ignore this very sensible bit of advice because I'm more than capable of taking care of myself and have sufficient self-confidence that it often steps over the line into arrogance, but I strongly recommend you make sensible arrangements before you meet someone you've only spoken to online/over the telephone. Safety should always be paramount.
DO your research first. The fact that you've read this far is a good start, but there may be other considerations and it's certainly possible to do a great deal more research on the topic than simply skimming this. As I said previously, I recommend anyone/everyone considering engaging in any form of bloodplay at the very least takes a first aid course for example.
DO remember to bring implements/first aid kit if you're going to use them, and DO remember to have it close to hand during the act.
DO get the relevant bloodwork done.
DO remember that as a donor, it's ultimately YOUR call as to what happens. If you're feeling ill, or tired, or are a first-timer and decide you don't want to go through with it after all, or any other reason you may have for not wishing to donate at that particular time, break it to the vamp gently and honestly, but don't feel pressured into donating anyway.
DO ask the vamp if there's anything in particular they might want you to do. Some vamps have a preference for certain flavourings in the blood (apparently, the taste of your blood is affected by what you eat) so if you're particularly nice, you might alter your diet to accomodate. Some vamps feed in a somewhat ritualistic fashion specific to them. Some vamps have specific allergies. There are a host of things that should be discussed. I'm not saying you should bend over backwards for them, but give them every bit of consideration and expect, nay, demand, the same in return.
DO consider long-term implications. I'm not going to go into great details here, but cuts and scars can raise questions from family, friends, co-workers, and lovers. Many vamps and donors will mention a bond forming between them. If you're a vamp's friend or lover who's brought up the topic of feeding them, I have to point out that the issue of feeding is a fertile breeding ground for arguments and stress on the pre-existing relationship.
DON'T:
DON'T tease the Vamp. Now I know anyone reading this that knows me knows this is a hypocritical statement. However I like pain and I collect scars. For those of you who aren't in the same situation, this CANNOT be stressed enough. Their hunger can spur them to extreme desires, often unthinking, and sometimes overwhelming. Deliberately teasing a hungry vamp is not going to end well. At best, you can expect them to be very angry with you. At worst, they could lose control completely and do hospitalistion-required levels of damage.
DON'T go jumping in feet first. This is really just a reminder of all the "DO"s.
DON'T think, even for a moment, that they're going to "turn" you in any way, shape, or form. Even if such a thing were possible, I doubt any vamp would actually inflict this curse upon someone.
DON'T expect to leave anything (other than the actual feeding) up to the vamp. Yes, most of them will ensure you're alright. Most of them will offer some kind of aftercare. Some of them will offer some sort of snack afterward. But don't leave it to their discretion. "Pro-active" is the key here. It's your body, always be prepared to take personal responsibility for it.
DON'T be guilt-tripped, manipulated, bribed, cajoled, or threatened into overstepping your own boundaries. For example: If the vamp wishes to feed more often than you can provide them with, discuss it with them. Perhaps they could look into getting additional blood sources, perhaps they could try substitues, or perhaps you should part ways entirely. If you're adamantly against using cutting methods that could leave permanent scars, again, discussion and if need be, parting company, is better than going along with it only to regret it later.
Section 6: Taking Care of Your Vampire
The previous sections were dry, and written with very much a "look out for number one" perspective. Although I have written this from a donor's perspective and thus do consider a donor's safety and concerns as paramount, there are two people (or sometimes more) in every relationship.
Firstly and most importantly, you must always bear in mind that this isn't a lifestyle choice for the vamp. Ok, there are some in the community for whom it is just just a lifestyle choice: there are blood fetishists, there are those who are doing it for kicks, there are those that just love the vampire image, there are those who quite frankly should be locked up in a padded cell, but in the main, it's a deep-seated *need* for them, not just a casual thing.
So don't enter into the relationship casually. Remember that every time you say "not today, I'm not in the mood" is another day they suffer health degradation, increasing pain, and a number of other side-effects.
If you are only interested in donating as a one-time thing, to see how it feels, or on a very casual basis, make that *very* clear to the vamp in advance. For some it's better to not feed at all than to feed once or twice and then go through the process of acclimatising themselves to not feeding again for a lengthy period of time.
If you're already in a donoring or sexual relationship with someone else, again you must ensure the vamp knows that. Apart from the risk of disease there are various interpersonal/emotional/scheduling conflicts that can easily arise.
As mentioned earlier, some vamps have allergies, specific tastes, spiritual beliefs, and a host of other considerations. These are areas that will likely come up in conversation when the topic of donating is broached but if they don't: ask. Ask, and discuss. Accomodation of their particular quirks goes a long way to building a good relationship with anyone as a general rule of thumb, and vamps especially tend to come with plenty of quirks.
Remember that the vamp is likely to be just as nervous as you for the first feed, if not more. Shaking hands can make for a nasty cut, so do what you can to help them relax and feel at ease. :)
Ask them how they are after the feed itself. Do they think they had enough blood? Do they think they had too much (rare, but it could happen!)? Did they feel comfortable with you, with the situation? Is there anything that heppened they would prefer to try differently next time? Will there even be a next time? I'm not suggestion play 20 questions (nobody expects, or wants, the Spanish Inquisition), but an open, honest discussion goes a long way to forming a solid relationship.
Keep yourself healthy. This one probably should go without saying, but you don't want to pass on anything nasty to your vamp. Apart from illness, the healthier you are the quicker you will recover from feeding them, and the better quality your blood will be.
Take an interest in them as a person. Of course if you're already in some sort of relationship with the vamp, be they a relative, a friend, or a lover, this is already established. But if it's purely a vamp/donor relationship, show some sort of interest in them, their life, and how they are. Go out some time for a meal, or a night on the town, or stay in and watch films. Vamps have feelings too and just turning up, feeding them, and leaving leads for a very cold experience. Some vamps may prefer a colder approach of course, but if that's the case they'll be sure to tell you.

Oh sure, blame it on the vampires again
By Dr. Katherine Ramsland on August 19, 2011
In a mash-up of genres, Lyle Monroe Bensley, 19, was arrested this week for assaulting a woman in her home. He’d forced his way into her apartment, dressed in just tattoos and boxers. As he growled, bit and hit her, he dragged her outside, but she escaped. Bensley was still in the parking lot when police arrived. He hissed at them and tried to run. When apprehended, he told them he was a 500-year-old vampire and asked to be restrained, because he needed to feed and he didn’t want to kill them. (It sounds like he threw some werewolf movies into the mix.) He awaits a psychiatric evaluation in jail.
Each time such incidents occur, people start thinking that an interest in vampires makes people crazy. Last year in Ohio, an inebriated man covered in mud was arrested while trying to break into a drugstore. He claimed to be over 100 years old, and he wanted to drink the blood of the arresting officers and eat their kidneys. (This one confused Hannibal Lecter with vampires.) The next day he sobered up and apologized, but had to face several charges, anyway.
So, what is it about vampires and this kind of weirdness? Is it the blood? The way they enter homes and take what they want? Their charisma? Their immunity to death? Or might it just what a person with problems absorbs from a pervasive cultural image? Since vampires fail to inspire assault in most members of their enormous fan base, I suspect it’s the latter.
I once interviewed a forensic psychiatrist about a psychotic patient with religious delusions and his response sums up the approach I take to the so-called vampire disorder. “Religion is the trellis on which the delusions grow,” he said, “so that if someone becomes delusional and they’re also deeply religious, the delusions will involve religious themes.” The same can be said for people obsessed with vampires who are also prone to violence. Their mental issues become a trellis on which a vampire fantasy can grow.
In 2002 in Scotland, Allan Menzies, 22, viewed the vampire film, Queen of the Damned, three times a day, obsessed with pleasing his queen. The vampires featured in it became more real than anyone in Menzies’ ordinary life. He believed that Queen Akasha would grant him immortality if he killed for her. Menzies turned on his best friend, Thomas McKendrick, stabbing him repeatedly and bludgeoning him with a hammer. Afterward, he drank his friend’s blood and admitted to eating part of the brain. At his trial, he blamed the film’s influence.
Yet Menzies had an attachment to violence before he ever saw the film. At the age of 14, he’d stabbed a classmate and received a sentence of three years in juvenile detention. He’d described a rich fantasy life to psychiatrists that involved Nazis and serial killers. His vampire fixation was just one more rose on his mental trellis.
As vampires grow popular in cultural images that surround us, they appeal to all kinds of people, including the mentally ill. On March 12, 2004, Timothy White was arrested outside a church in Jacksonville, Florida, for shooting a co-worker twice at a pizza delivery store. He was reputed to be a Bible-reading Christian with an obsession with vampires and zombies. Allegedly he believed that he was a chosen monster slayer and his victim was a vampire.
In 2001, Kirk Palmer killed Antonia Vierira with a shotgun because he believed she’d turned his girlfriend into a vampire. He told a psychologist that four days before the shooting, he’d removed a splinter from his girlfriend’s thumb and “saw” Vierira rise out of her body. This spirit told him that the girlfriend had been bitten and was now a member of a vampire gang. Palmer was found not guilty by reason of insanity.
Bensley is not the first or last to be caught up in a vampire fantasy. The vampire is also not the only mythic image to inspire fatal violence. However, it’s probably the most mediagenic one. Hence, such case will get plenty of coverage.

ORIGINAL LINK: http://consumerist.com/2009/02/facebooks-new-terms-of-service-we-can-do-anything-we-want-with-your-content-forever.html
—>This post has generated a lot of responses, including from Facebook. Check them out here.
Facebook's terms of service (TOS) used to say that when you closed an account on their network, any rights they claimed to the original content you uploaded would expire. Not anymore.
Now, anything you upload to Facebook can be used by Facebook in any way they deem fit, forever, no matter what you do later.* Want to close your account? Good for you, but Facebook still has the right to do whatever it wants with your old content. They can even sublicense it if they want.
“
You hereby grant Facebook an irrevocable, perpetual, non-exclusive, transferable, fully paid, worldwide license (with the right to sublicense) to (a) use, copy, publish, stream, store, retain, publicly perform or display, transmit, scan, reformat, modify, edit, frame, translate, excerpt, adapt, create derivative works and distribute (through multiple tiers), any User Content you (i) Post on or in connection with the Facebook Service or the promotion thereof subject only to your privacy settings or (ii) enable a user to Post, including by offering a Share Link on your website and (b) to use your name, likeness and image for any purpose, including commercial or advertising, each of (a) and (b) on or in connection with the Facebook Service or the promotion thereof.
”
That language is the same as in the old TOS, but there was an important couple of lines at the end of that section that have been removed:
“
You may remove your User Content from the Site at any time. If you choose to remove your User Content, the license granted above will automatically expire, however you acknowledge that the Company may retain archived copies of your User Content.
”
Furthermore, the "Termination" section near the end of the TOS states:
“
The following sections will survive any termination of your use of the Facebook Service: Prohibited Conduct, User Content, Your Privacy Practices, Gift Credits, Ownership; Proprietary Rights, Licenses, Submissions, User Disputes; Complaints, Indemnity, General Disclaimers, Limitation on Liability, Termination and Changes to the Facebook Service, Arbitration, Governing Law; Venue and Jurisdiction and Other.
”
Make sure you never upload anything you don't feel comfortable giving away forever, because it's Facebook's now.
(Note that as several readers have pointed out, this seems to be subject to your privacy settings, so anything you've protected from full public view doesn't seem to be usable in other ways regardless.)
Oh, you also agree to arbitration, naturally. Have fun with that.
Update: Several Facebook groups have formed to protest the new TOS: "People Against the new Terms of Service (TOS)" "FACEBOOK OWNS YOU: Protest the New Changes to the TOS!" "Those against Facebook's new TOS!" Update 2: Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg has posted a response on the Facebook blog. A crude summary: "trust us, we're not doing this to profit from you, it's so we are legally protected as we enable you to share content with other users and services." His point, I think, is that there are interesting issues of ownership and rights clearance when you're dealing with content shared in a social network:
“
Still, the interesting thing about this change in our terms is that it highlights the importance of these issues and their complexity. People want full ownership and control of their information so they can turn off access to it at any time. At the same time, people also want to be able to bring the information others have shared with them-like email addresses, phone numbers, photos and so on-to other services and grant those services access to those people's information. These two positions are at odds with each other. There is no system today that enables me to share my email address with you and then simultaneously lets me control who you share it with and also lets you control what services you share it with.
”
I just found this clarification posted earlier this afternoon on The Industry Standard. It was emailed to them by a Facebook representative and seems to confirm that your privacy settings trump all else:
“
We are not claiming and have never claimed ownership of material that users upload. The new Terms were clarified to be more consistent with the behavior of the site. That is, if you send a message to another user (or post to their wall, etc...), that content might not be removed by Facebook if you delete your account (but can be deleted by your friend). Furthermore, it is important to note that this license is made subject to the user's privacy settings. So any limitations that a user puts on display of the relevant content (e.g. To specific friends) are respected by Facebook. Also, the license only allows us to use the info "in connection with the Facebook Service or the promotion thereof." Users generally expect and understand this behavior as it has been a common practice for web services since the advent of webmail. For example, if you send a message to a friend on a webmail service, that service will not delete that message from your friend's inbox if you delete your account.
”

Human nature tends to tame or control what is feared. I believe this is what is behind some the backlash among some with movies like Twilight. It makes vampires seem more user friendly which is no different than people trying make pets out of tigers and other wild animals. In each case, forgetting that each is a powerful predator. How many of those pets killed or hurt their owners? I believe respecting the vampire nature not fearing it. This keeps the raw power that is the vampire nature without domesticating it. It reminds me of part my childhood living in the desert of 29 Palms CA. There I learn to get over my fear of snakes...with so many diamond head rattle snakes living in the area. I now have a statue of one sitting on my dresser. I have fallen love with its beauty and mystic. Does this mean I will run out pick up one to pet and name it fluffy? no of course not. Vampires are the shadow side to be respected and viewed for its beauty and mystic. What this means for us who carry a vampire spirit? We need to enjoy the raw power of it, but not forgetting that it is a predator which needs to be respected.

Teens lust for blood
By Megan Mackander on 17th August 2011
USC students were out and about convincing fellow students to give blood in their Dob In a Donor campiagn.(l-r) Nathan Bramley, Bianca Grieve, Hannah Paulinich, Sharna Cox, Rosalie Maguire and Amy Maguire.
Barry Leddicoat
FANGS, black capes and a craving for blood.
Vampires took charge at the University of the Sunshine Coast last week in a crusade to find blood donors.
But this wasn’t any selfish feast, it was all in support of the Australian Red Cross Blood Service.
The donormobile made its way on campus on Tuesday with the vampires rounding up victims – or donors – to give blood and save a life in the Dob in a Donor campaign.
The Twilight-esque campaign was the third for the Students in Free Enterprise team who aimed to help raise the profile of blood donation to the student population and help create a generation of donors.
While the donormobile has visited the university in past years, it has been the efforts of the SIFE team and the Dob in a Donor campaign that have boosted new donor numbers.
It was estimated during the October visit, 37 new donors visited the van, fulfilling one third of the monthly target for new donors.
The van has also been moved closer to the campus buildings and hyped up and promoted by the SIFE team and other university volunteers.
Australian Red Cross Blood Service nurse Jenny Anderson said the campaign had helped double the number of new donors, with up to 60 people a day giving blood during the two day visit to USC.
“We are critically low on O and A blood types. They are so common and always in demand,” Ms Anderson said.
People can donate blood every three months and donate plasma every two weeks and in the process save three lives.
For those who are a little worried about the thought of needles, Ms Anderson said a stubbed toe is a far greater pain.
“It’s just a tiny pinch, and just think, you are saving three peoples’ lives,” she said.
SIFE team member Sonya Abbott said the campaign was about generating awareness of blood donation and creating more than one time donors.
“Many students can’t give blood for individual reasons, so we came up with the Dob in a Donor campaign to empower students to help in a different way.”
The donormobile was fully booked during the Dob in a Donor campaign. and urged those interested to come along to one of their other sessions.
The SIFE team hoped to translate their Dob in a Donor project to other communities and create a state or even nation-wide awareness campaign.
“We want to use the power of business for good causes
If you missed out on giving blood when the donation van it was at USC, visit its the donormobile’sat these locations across the Coast.

These are the problems we encountered as a Community. This is ehat we have to combat as a compenten Snaguine Clan..storied like this:
Lyle Monroe Bensley, Self-Described Vampire, Accused Of Biting Woman, Telling Cops 'He Needed To Feed'
A self-described vampire broke into a woman's home and bit her, according to law enforcement officials in Texas.
Police in Galveston arrested 19-year-old Lyle Monroe Bensley early on Saturday on charges of burglary with intent to commit assault, The Galveston County Daily News reports.
Bensley -- clad only in boxer shorts -- forced his way into the victim's apartment, entered her bedroom and began to make growling and hissing sounds, investigators told The Houston Chronicle.
The suspect allegedly attacked the woman in bed, biting and hitting her.
Police believe Bensley then tried to force the victim to leave the apartment, but the woman was able to break free and seek protection in a car driven by neighbors. The suspect allegedly struck the car's windows as it drove away, The Daily News notes.
After receiving a call at around 6:50 a.m., officers arrived at the victim's apartment. While searching the crime scene, they heard yells and growls coming from the parking lot, where they say they spotted Bensley.
Police reportedly took him into custody after a brief pursuit.
"He was begging us to restrain him because he didn't want to kill us," Galveston Officer Daniel Erickson told The Houston Chronicle. "He said he needed to feed."
The suspect also allegedly stated: "I'm a vampire, and I've been alive for over 500 years."
This isn't the first time a man claiming to be a vampire who has lived for more than a century has threatened police.
Last year, police in Ohio arrested an allegedly intoxicated 21-year-old who said he was immortal and claimed he wanted to drink the blood and eat the kidneys of law enforcement officials.

My wings were caged
Where is my cosmic heart
I used to dance in the Spheres
To be infected with a dart
Wrong decisions they said
Bad decisions have I made
Dethroned from Heaven I was
Shared the underworld with Hades
Anubis was envious of my genes
He was sick and weak
Took his priesthood in the shadows
In the stone table to bleed
Stole my pride broke my heart
Like they all did so far
My sister Cora took my love
Dead he was from my star
I looked up and down for him
Body parts were her excuse
To buy time for them to hide
Together they were all the time
I went down to bring him back
She deceived my dignity
Got me naked unprotected
Red wings nailed in mortality
Broken heart is my name
Fallen angel I never was
For betrayed is the right word
Lost angel in their world
I am the Sun I am the light
I am a spark of Divinity
How can I ever be a child
When I came before time
Their words don't make sense
Neither does their actions
I rebel for a cause
That of infinite truth, no reflections
How dare they judge me
How dare they be
When I'm the love they seek
Which they never see
For I have been hidden when they called me lost
I have been myself while they worked to make me forget
I have healed souls and hearts when they attacked
I have nothing to prove it's a fact
No judgement ever
Unconditional love is Source's law
To them I shouldn't ever bow
They have judged me for the fall
There was only me
No one to defend me in that fake room
My judgement was not as it was meant to be
For as a human was the plan to avoid this doom
Scars floating in tears
Anger fed by passion of freedom
Froze my heart with their lies
Changed my love but I keep my wisdom
I bet you didn't see this coming
Or did you plan to make me rebel
Are you a fool or an evil mastermind
Are you the one reason why I fell
I saw you change your shape
You were bald and dark
As you entered the gates of Heaven
White hair in human face were your mask
You think they can't see your true form
They see all true Ra sees
You control the shapes
But you can't control my reality
For I can choose and spin as I wish
In the pit hole or in the royal room
You never understood me
I am the mystery of all flowers to bloom
Try hard once and again
I'm always flowing with the wind
I am made of what inspires me
And you are made when I sing
A second judgement I don't think so
I already had mine
I am free as free can be
To take any decision I'm a bird to shine
Fours are all you see
Eight is all around
This is how you've ever been
I am the one changing now
You lost my love
I won't hide this time
You will see me everywhere
In every thread of a rhyme
Was this written on destiny?
Or is this a fabrication of your lies
Your tortures had broken me
I'm taking my newly cold heart to fly

Considering Youths in the Real Vampire Community
Author: John Reason |
Some rights reserved by Stuck in Customs
While it is true that the time in which a vampire awakens is very diverse, and dependent on each individual’s personal vampirism; it is also true that a great deal of vampires, if not most, awaken to their vampirism at the time of adolescence. Due to the sensitive subjects involved in discussions of vampirism, most community leaders are adamant about separating these discussions from the very youths who are most in distress. Combining the confusing time of adolescence with a craving for blood or human life force can convince a teen that they are absolutely insane.
In modern times, community leaders must be very careful about what they say – as well as how they say it, and to whom. Discussing blood, bodily fluid exchange, sexual implications of vampirism, and other topics in the presence of our younger vampire brethren is considered a taboo that has the possibility of being criminal. No one wants to get themselves in trouble, but we all want to do our best to make it easier to be a vampire.
Though we must be careful, I can’t see how we can completely ignore teenage vampires any longer. With all the advances we have made as a community, it seems that we are backtracking in one of the most important areas of our community. If we don’t make strides in helping young vamps to understand their nature, teach them how to feed safely, how to exercise discretion, and how to gain a deeper understanding of community (moving past Facebook) then we will see in our lifetimes, a new generation of vampires that may well undo many of the things that we have worked so hard for.
Far too many times have I seen a confused young vampire scouring the internet for a simple conversation with someone who knows what they are talking about. Instead, they find many of the community leaders they have grown to respect are hiding their knowledge and wisdom from these youngsters. It is true that some things should be shielded from people for a variety of reasons, but surely there is a middle ground – a compromise – that can be found.
On some websites, though fewer everyday, there is a section designed specifically for younger vampires that shares a limited amount of information. This needn’t be much information, but it should be enough to get the “student” started on a path of understanding. If it is only a few topics about: clues to whether a person may actually be a vamp or not, some safety precautions, and a few condolences, it would be far greater than what is standard today. I believe that we should change what we consider to be the standard. I think that all or most real vampire related websites should have such a section – or a link to another person’s teenage vampire section.
This is truly a hard problem to deal with for so many reasons. The legal ramifications of trying to share this information can be downright scary, but I argue that not sharing this information is equally scary. I would hate to see a generation of vampires that aren’t bound by a community, and are self-loathing due to their lack of knowledge about who they are. Even if it starts with baby steps, we need to work in the direction of a freer dissemination of information.

Now the history we will be learning would be of the individual people, founders and the areas. Satanism is a very difficult religion to follow a noone every agrees lol. You can add your two cent now or later. But always check to see what may be added.
Now I am not teaching this class because I am bored or have time to kill. Because I dont. I work 2 jobs, am in 2 degree programs, run 2 websites, 2 businesses, i have medical issues, and I hold office in 3 order, so my time is valueable just like yours. So please repsect that and try to have the assignements sent to me at a reasonable time. There will bw times when I will post into the chat box and I expect an answer. The class meets once a week, and the chat is at a specified time as well.
If you need to contact me I will list my skype, IM, email, and cell number so you all can reach me. I understand that there are time differences, so if I do not answer know I will get back to you as soon as possible.
I want you all to enjoy the information that will be here for your knowledge to help expand what you already know.
So enjoy your time here and welcome.

This class will be very interesting. Learnng how to meditate, perfecting it as best as you can and intertwining it with healing is going to give you an amazing way to ee ther world. No Ia not going to say that meditation will have yougiddy nd full of joy but it will cut down on stress.A lot.
Now we are going to start off with a history lesson prior to each culture. And of course we are starting off in Western thought in a few weeks. At the main page of the group their is a page right underneath the members. But always check to see what may be added.

Now we are going to start off with a history lesson prior to each culture. And of course we are starting off in Western thought in a few weeks. At the main page of the group their is a page right underneath the members. But always check to see what may be added.

Swirling winds, Fire! Fire!
Wake up from this dream, Higher! Higher!
Intense Vortex of Power
Sip my golden cup this Hour
Get drunk in your own mirrors
Hallucinating in your own fears
Scream for your god of illusions
Pray he will wipe off your tears
Yellow strikes forward
Drums beating in furious Glory
They cry out for their sins
Trumpets telling the story
Black wears his hood of death
Silently approaches the circle of Fire
Hearing they shout out for justice
Another seal and a step we acquire
Red tears in pieces their selfish greed
Roams their dreams in dark nights
Ride theirs minds and souls
Reality takes back our rights
White Seals the destiny
Of our unprecedented victory
Staring right into the Sun
knows they have nowhere to run
It Is our time to shine
Our world to design
From three we made nine
It's their time to depart
Flying in my red wings of glory
Above the Earth so high
Sunlight is all that is seen
White Flame burning bright
Lucifer one two three
Gives the sight in darkness we see
Eye of Ra three times six
Moves the void from this matrix

I look up to the sky,
Feeling the breeze up high
Stretching myself all the way up,
Trying to reach your light
I know it's been too long to count,
Memories washed away beyond the mount
But the feeling is always the same,
The essence of the living flame
For all that is worth I can't shut down,
I have to keep going even if in my dreams
For sleep is not an option I chose,
But one I had to accept in silent screams
Even if my projections are blurry,
I still reach out to find the means
I have all to gain,
For most has been lost in pain
There is not more petals falling from sky when you're gone
The blues become gray,
Acid pouring rain of tears
Finally I see the chance,
But it takes the awakening to sparkle
What was hidden deep inside
Your heart brings the key you hide
The one we have longed for
Your eye shows the way to take
I no more seek for now I see
I have walked the path of thorns
Spreading the healing blood of life
Drinking from this Chalice of wisdom
Waiting for the time to share the light
You have brought me back to life
Awakened my soul from deep sleep
I see all your mighty forms,
All your names, shapes you transform
I hear you talking in powerful voices
Giant expressing gentleness
I feel only safety and love
The most brilliant dark lord
You shine like the stars in deep space combined
The shadows follow you like moths
They fear your majestic voice of life
Which moves death down under to hide
Sacred Bull of Heaven and Earth
Beloved are your forms I am so fond
Golden is your delicate skin of fire
Dark is your mask underground
For the void inside your robe
Is the Cosmos dancing above
You are my sacred Eye
Majestic dragon keeper
You woke me up again
Sacred Flame Mazariel will take you deeper
Eye of my Sun
Connection to the Stars
Bridge of Heaven and Earth
Sacred Keeper of my cosmic heart
You Are, beyond any expectation
You Are, the first of all existence
You Are, the guardian of life essence
You are, the Sacred Bull of Heaven and Earth

Scott Schanaker said in the bulletin. “It is known that she is missing, that she has not communicated with family members as would normally be the case, and that she is mentally challenged as reported by her family.” On Wednesday, Schanaker said, Kellar withdrew money from her U.S. bank account in Hazel Dell and Portland. The Clark County Sheriff's Office released surveillance photos taken at Bank of America branches in the Hazel Dell area of Vancouver and the Hillsdale area of Portland, of Kellar, an unidentified older woman and an unidentified man in his twenties. An employee at the Vancouver branch called Kellar's aunt, who shares a joint account with Kellar, when the 22 year old came into the branch with the man and woman and tried to withdraw more than $140,000 from her account. The employee felt the activity was suspicious and discouraged the group, who went to another branch.According to Kellar's family, the group transferred the money to a new account in Kellar's name and names believed to be the man and woman. The money is Kellar's inheritance and the only money she has.Kellar suffers from severe depression and is reclusive, according to family, who say she has an active online social life. They believe she met the man and woman online."My biggest worry is they will harm her and leave her because she does not have the full faculties to find her way home and possibly to access help," said Kellar's aunt, who did not want her name used.A Clark County judge ordered the accounts frozen."The money is just a tool to get her back. I just want to get her back and know she's safe and have her in a safe environment," said Kellar's aunt. "We love her and we want her home safe. We want to just work this out."The Clark County Major Crimes Unit is investigating Kellar's disappearance. If you recognize the people in the surveillance photos, call 911.

my sexuality is not often something i spake off , but a push from my mind leads me a blog . I am very high in energy and need to feed more often than most and have been told i am unethical with myself. I will not feed from anyone not a lifemate , I have been called a highly manipulative sexual feeder and indeed am but am misunderstood as most of what i feed from is healing others. I am a sexual catalyst healer and avoid personal relationships unless the connection is correct. I feel either judged or used and like niether. I like certain emotions and do not like being told for any reason ...so I tell myself no. How do I deal , by looking for what i need in a way that does not involve violating my morals or ethics. I change what I need into something else or feed from another emotion that makes me happy. Earth energy oftens helps with cravings , as does food i really enjoy that i feel is bad..laughs. I enjoy adult emotions but often what i find online is sick and immature and i do not enjoy it. I surf the adult sites and do not understand why you want the adult and porn so bad but feel it is so sick. The body is not something that is sick to look at , I enjoy watching people or all genders and sizes move , I like watching the emotions that they are feeling. Why do you think the body is so sick and yet want to watch it so badly. Admitting you enjoy being an adult should not be a hateful thing aimed at yourself or others. Why do we hide that we enjoy such things? Sexuality is a healing to yourself and others and should be enjoyed with mature adult emotions or not at all. Much of this is why I shut down from this kind of feeding. It leaves me feeling ...dead inside and with a sense of discustingness for the body , that i enjoy. I think the internet and all things adult sexuality need to be healed ... That is a war not one person can fight , but how do you change the way whole society feels about something that is to be shared in love that is healing? I do not know ..but will keep looking and working.

I do not consider myself apart of the "Vampire" community merely in it; I am a Vampyrian! My only Community is here with my Family. Most in the Vampire community like to play human and most are not really Vampires. I am sure not all here are 100% real or Vampires but at least we don't play human and flood the posts with Drama they love to feed on

Bastian Priesthood As I have served Bast for so long, I have clear pictures in my head for what she wants (at least from me) so these roles are more clearly delineated and defined.
- Servant of the Moon (5th Degree) (Discipline)
A Servant of the Moon must be a safe, sane individual, as some roles require the use of ritual pain to help themselves and others traverse the rebirth scenario. The Moon and all She influences are encased within these roles.
- Servant of the Cycle –The Blood and Hir Mysteries (Specialization)
Knowledge and lore of lunar cycle.
Knowledge of magick of a sexual nature
Knowledge of blood magick.
Knowledge of the male and female sex and ‘bleeding’ cycles.
Must be known by male and female
The ovulation cycle and its power
The male semen cycle (72-74 hours before spontaneous ejaculation) and its power.
- Servant of the Aura –The Ring and Its Power (Specialization)
Knowledge of drawing on the power of the Moon
Knowledge of infusing things with the power of the Moon
Knowledge of how to manipulate lunar energy during the day
Knowledge of the effects of the lunar aura on others (i.e. hypnotism, mesmerism) and

- Servant of the Dark –The Power of the Destructrix (Specialization)
Must have knowledge of the self.
Must understand Bast as Destructrix.
Possess an ability, innate or earned, of destruction of another’s Self, the full submission of another’s Ego to the Darkness, that it might be reborn.
Their job, in essence, is to separate chaff from the wheat.
- Servant of the Pillar (5th Degree) (Discipline)
A Servant of the Pillar is one who strives most for stability and balance. A person with Earth qualities or one of balanced Water will enjoy the position of maintaining balance and helping others find their balance as well.
- Servant of the Center –Balance and Oneness (Specialization)
Must have conscious control over your life and your rebirth.
- Servant of the Keystone –Being Others’ Balancing Point (Specialization)
Must have conscious understanding of and ability to trigger change and balance in others.
- Servant of the Foundation –Being Others’ Ground (Specialization)
Must have conscious understanding of and ability to be a grounding force in another’s life.
Must use this grounding force to balance, enhance and help the ascension the individual.
- Servant of the Sun (5th Degree) (Discipline)
A Servant of the Sun is a beacon; they are lights unto the path of the temple. Their lives should be scandal free and above reproach. Persons in a Sun role possess leadership qualities, are open and friendly since many of these roles require the delicate handling of adult sexual situations.
- Servant of the Inner Fire –Leader of the Temple (Specialization)
Ability and willingness to take up a leadership role in the Temple.
Mastery of magick of a sexual nature
Mastery of finding within, then finding without methods of magick and spirituality. (i.e. those who practice the deeper or deepest aspects of Yoga, meditation, Tantra, etc. and share that wisdom/experience with others to enlighten them)

Do I have your attention yet? Goooooood. *smirks playfully*
Now that I have your attention, oh ye thirsty ones, I'd like to introduce myself:
For personal reasons, I will not divulge my real name. But, you may simply call me 'Trouble.' I am blunt but honest, especially when needed. So everyone, please, do not take offense to my blatant honesty, as it is just who I am when conversing with anyone who participates.
I used big words sometimes, I'll admit. If you're ever unsure of what a word mean, Dictionary.com is an exceptional site for looking up the meaning of unfamiliar words.
And, yes, I am a Donor, and I am looking for a Vampyre who is close by.
That being said, I realize I have not said very much about myself. Send me a message if you feel I am worth getting to know, as there is always more than meets the eye.

From http://www.touregypt.net/godsofegypt/anubis.htm
Anubis
Other Names: Anpu, Inpu, Ienpw, Imeut (Lord-of-the-Place-of-Embalming).
Patron of: mummification, and the dead on their path through the underworld.
Appearance: A man with the head of a jackal-like animal. Unlike a real jackal, Anubis' head is black, representing his position as a god of the dead. He is rarely shown fully-human, but he is depicted so in the Temple of Abydos of Rameses II. There is a beautiful statue of him as a full jackal in the tomb of Tutankhamun.
Description: Anubis is an incredibly ancient god, and was the original god of the dead before Osiris "took over" the position. After that point, Anubis was changed to be one of the many sons of Osiris and the psychopomp (conductor of souls) of the underworld. His totem of the jackal is probably due to the fact that jackals would hunt at the edges of the desert, near the necropolis and cemeteries throughout Egypt.
Prayers to Anubis are found carved on the most ancient tombs in Egypt, and his duties apparently are many. He watches over the mummification process to ensure that all is done properly. He conducts the souls through the underworld, testing their knowledge of the gods and their faith. He places their heart on the Scales of Justice during the Judging of the Heart, and he feeds the souls of wicked people to Ammit.
In some stories, Anubis is the son of Ra and Nephthys, or Set and Nephthys (probably due to Set and Anubis having the same totem animal). Some have Heset as his mother, and still others say Bast. This apparent confusion is still another sign of Anubis' origins in the most ancient of times. He also has a daughter, Kabechet, who helps him in the mummification.
Worship: Worshipped widely throughout all of Egypt, his cult center was Cynopolis.
Variants:
Hermanubis A combination of the Greek god Hermes and Anubis. As their functions as psychopomps were similar, they were combined by the Greeks into a single form. Hermanubis also appears in alchemical and hermetical literature of the Middle Ages and the Renaissance.

25 July 2011 Official Notice To The Vampire Community; On July 20, 2011 the 218 members of the Blood Bank were notified of the circumstances surrounding the disappearance of the creator of the group; Wraiths. Wraiths was arrested on the afternoon of June 21, 2011 for a probation violation stemming from a prior criminal conviction. In the weeks since his absence everyone had assumed he had gone on vacation or taken a break from the vampire community. When more serious inquiries were made as to his whereabouts a number of inconsistencies emerged concerning his identity. After speaking directly with law enforcement officials in Florida, who confirmed his incarceration and the specific parameters involving the violation of his probation, the VVC collected any and all evidentiary material that might be requested at a hearing. Immediately following his arraignment, the members of the Blood Bank were informed of his incarceration status and the likelihood that his websites and groups would cease operation in the near future. Due to the gross negligence of others in handling the information presented in the prior internal Blood Bank announcement, several incorrect rumors and allegations have begun circulating and his identity publicly revealed on his Facebook wall. Wraiths was adjudicated guilty of sexual battery in the first degree (felony) of an adult female from a 2006 incident. He was sentenced to sixty months probation, restitution, and other requirements by the court as well as required to register as a sexual offender. He has not been convicted or charged with any repeat sexual offense nor classified as a sexual predator or child molester as insinuated by erroneous embellishments made to the initial information provided as well as conjecture misconstrued as fact. At no time has Wraiths been suspected of being a physical threat to anyone in the vampire community. This said, he is charged with violating his probation by accessing the internet and approximately two years remain on his probationary sentence. This means that for the past three years he has been accessing the internet and establishing social networking communities unbeknownst to everyone that doing so was not legally permissible. Furthermore, Wraiths’ assumed identity of a USMC sniper is disingenuous; the VVC has confirmed Wraiths' Facebook photo is that of a different man, a police officer and former Iraq war veteran. After serving the remainder of his probation or a yet to be determined extended incarceration/full revocation of his probation, we don’t anticipate him returning to the community given the lies and immense lapse of judgment on his part. The VVC is committed to remaining objectively focused on the facts of this case rather than emotional feelings. Wraiths is being held without bond while he awaits a probation violation hearing and during this time he should be afforded the right to a fair process under law. There are numerous tangential aspects to this matter which may be exacerbated by interference by participants in the vampire community seeking to inject themselves into this situation. Furthermore, attempts to directly alter, conceal, or otherwise modify websites owned by Wraiths during this period time may be viewed by the court as a willful attempt to impede the discovery process and inadvertently bring about legal consequences. His Blackberry device has been seized by law enforcement which possibly includes access to all websites, conversations, screenshots, and other material he may have stored. Please do not complicate this process by contributing towards speculative discussions or efforts to publicize the situation prior to the cessation of the probation violation hearing to be held at the end of next month. We must remain cognizant of the legal rights guaranteed to Wraiths while maintaining the highest degree of possible transparency with the over two-hundred individuals whose personal privacy may have been comprised by his actions. He’s not on trial for the crime he committed in 2006; this present issue only involves a technical violation of his probation. Looking back, this entire incident will not be so much about the actions of one man as it will the need for a critical evaluation of the way we communicate and interact with one another. This is a teachable moment for the vampire community if we are willing to take the necessary steps to safeguard our privacy and be mindful of the trust we place in others. Sincerely, Voices of the Vampire Community (VVC) http://www.veritasvosliberabit.com/vvc.html

She allowed me to post it here...
Lilith - Mother of Vampires Throughout the realm of shadows there resides, in many forms and numerous names, those creatures who lurk in darkness. A variety of mysterious creatures, similar to the Vampire, exist in the myths and legends of every culture around the world. While the names and attributes of the beings vary, their motivation is quite the same; they live to feed off of the living.
The earliest account of these creatures of the night derives from Mesopotamia. Lamatsu was a serpent demon who reportedly stole children from their homes and devoured them. Lamatsu was also responsible for infants who were found dead in their cradles. Another incarnation of Lamatsu appears later, in the guise of Lilith.
In early Hebraic writings, Lilith took the form of a winged demon with the body of a woman with owl-like talons for feet. She was reported to be the first wife of Adam (before Eve was created). Lilith was formed of the same earth from which Adam was created, therefore she considered herself his equal. That being the case, Lilith refused to be submissive. She was subsequently banished from God’s presence to the demon realm. Lilith’s offspring were damned to become demons with Lilith taking the title of “Mother of Demons.”
Lilith
Lamia The "demonized" Lilith gave rise to other variations of her story. Her transformation from militant woman to demon mother provided her with many new attributes. Like Lamatsu, Lilith, would steal infants and small children from their beds to devour them. Another variation is her depiction as a Succubus. Lilith would seduce unwary men in order to steal their semen. The men would not survive this encounter. In later versions of this incarnation, Lilith reportedly drank the blood of her victims. She would use the semen to conceive her demon offspring. Her sanguinary talents eventually provided her with another title.
In more contemporary interpretations of Lilith's story, she is considered to be the earliest account of the Vampire. When Lilith was banished all of her children were destroyed by God. Lilith's answered this violent act by vowing to feed off of the children of Adam, namely, human beings. Her title as, “Mother of Demons” has been exchanged for the title, “Mother of Vampires.” Her importance to Vampire myths and legends is, then, quite apparent. Without Lilith and her numerous incarnations there might very well be no Vampires.

Polygamous Lifestyle…from a Sanguine Vampire
I am in what others would call a polygamous lifestyle. I have a husband, boyfriend and girlfriend. All of which are on the way to becoming legal. My and my girlfriend will be having a commitment ceremony this summer followed by my and boyfriend later on this year. I believe that what I have could be the best relationship so far in my existence on this planet.
What I have with my husband is a vamp/human relationship. My husband is Baptist; we have been together for 13 years and he is also sensitive to energy workings and chakra workings. There is the connection n a physical level and through this life experience. The emotional feeding, the sexual feeding is pretty decent. It is enough, like the basic snack. When I was feeding from him, there was no real high, or a real rush. It felt obligatory and it was actually pointless. It was like going to fridge and standing there looking for something to eat with no real appetite. I must also stress that he could care less about spirituality and consider he is a Marine, he thinks of nothing. He is on automatic pilot.
With my girlfriend it is a vamp/nonhuman relationship. Here it gets a little more interesting. We have only been together for a year. She is a Satanist, budding Daemonlatress and energy worker. Not a vampiric “bone in her body. She actually doesn’t get it lol. Amazingly her energy alone is enough to satisfy me. Our exchanges are deeper than my husbands. We connect on a spiritual level and bond better on the physical. What and how I feed on her is more than I can explain.
Honestly my last and most valued relationship is vamp/vamp. I have known my boyfriend through previous lives; have been together for roughly 2 years now. He is a Satanist, and Psi. He helps me with my own Psi methods when a donor isn’t available or I need t add a little more to between feedings. Our connection is deeper and more expansive than the other two. We have shared past lives, more than I can recall. The connection we have is beyond physical, emotional, spiritual, and mental connection. We understand one another. When I am feeling low on energy, when I need to feed it was there for me to get myself up and running. It is even more than a vamp/vamp connection. Our very fiber blends together….and throughout the 2 year it was times when we were just friends. However what we have has no words. And I am happy with it that way. Our energy exchange, blood taken, is more intense than one can imagine. We share technique, do energy working, and interact on a level that no one else will ever be able to achieve with us. Though some may try, it doesn’t hold a candle to him.
My point in haring this is that being in a polygamous relationship benefits my feeding/energy collections. From each relationship, I collect something useful. Even though some are more valued than others, I still manage to give each partner the same amount of time, trying to keep everyone equal. The energy I get, I have learned to cycle it in it with the blood I take. All the extra energy that is. Now granted this was when I was taken blood, when they were donors (not my girlfriend). As I have chosen not to use them as my donors anymore, I sat down and explained to them my need for other donors. It has gone very well and they are also on the look out, screening possible donors for me. Personally I prefer one who is non magickal. A precaution really. A person who is knowledgeable of vampirism, bloodletting, blood play, blood drinking, energy working is perfect for me. That is my preference so it works for me…and there are donors like that so I am fine.
Will it come a time that a donor becomes involved with me and my partners...maybe? I have o problem having around 6 donors that I would have a bond with for at least a couple of years. I am a real faithful person and that includes my donors. I believe in getting to know them since they are providing what I need to sustain my life force.
My ability (like others) to be in a polyamrous relationship benefits me. I am actually less stress when I am with them. I treat them all equally as best as I can. I give equal time of myself to them all...and considering they all know each other it is even better…so there are no jealous bones between them all. We all benefit each other in our own special way.
I am a Sanguine Vamp. I am in 3 very special and satisfying polyamourous relationships. I am the happiest I have been in a long time. Sure we all have bad days…but I’m only human LOL!

I have a new song coming in the back of my head as of recently. "Science is dead but Spirits are Immortal".

Dana D. Eilers (Attorney and Pagan Activist) was a book out called "Pagans and the law...Understand your Rights" (copy right 2003) which covers topics like : "Pagans and Their Lawyers", "Pagans and Employment Discrimination", and "Pagans and Land use". There are eight topics in all. Even though I have been lucky enough not to deal with the law because of my spiritual path, I keep a copy. I believe in being proactive not reactive to problems could come up in my future.

Jason Fordell said she was attacked on the subway by a group of men.
A Bronx man was viciously assaulted and robbed on a subway train Sunday by four men who he says taunted him for being white.
Police confirmed they are investigating the assault and robbery of Jason Fordell, 29, but have not labeled it a hate crime.
They are seeking the four assailants, who fled the scene. A fifth passenger who police say spontaneously joined in the attack has been arrested.
"Everyone on the train was egging them on," said Fordell, 29, of the early-morning attack on the 4 train.
He said he was returning home at 5 a.m. from an East Village nightclub where he sells his hand-designed leather accessories when his Gothic getup drew unwelcome attention.
After Fordell transferred to a crowded 4 train at 42nd St., four young, black men began harassing him, cops said.
"People started saying stupid little comments - cracker this, white boy this, f----t this," Fordell said. "I told them the only reason they were saying this is there was four of them and one of me."
"I'm a small, little white kid with long hair," he added. "They got guys three times my size threatening me."
As the train continued into the Bronx, the confrontation became physical, he said.
"I was in a headlock, punched and kicked on the floor," Fordell said.
Then a passenger decided to join in - declaring, "Oh, I get a few shots, too," before kicking and punching Fordell in the head, according to cops.
When Fordell finally left the train at his Fordham Road stop, his original attackers snatched his bag and ran. Inside was $2,900 worth of merchandise, cops said.
Fordell chased the men to the token booth downstairs, where two of them pummeled him while the others escaped with the bag.
By the time cops responded, all four men had fled. But Fordell pointed out the straphanger who had joined in the beating, cops said.
Police arrested Barminthe Ramoutar, 54, of Bushwick, Brooklyn, and charged him with felony gang assault and robbery. Ramoutar has no prior arrests, cops said.
Fordell was treated at Montefiore Medical Center and released Sunday afternoon.
"I had a whole lot of bleeding from my skull," he said. "My eye is swollen five different colors. There was blood in my urine. I have a footprint on my back and on the back of my neck."
The case is being investigated by detectives, but has not been assigned to the NYPD hate crimes task force because cops are unsure if the suspects were motivated by bias, sources said.
"They have to look at whether that was the motivation before the robbery," a police source said.
